Here is something to get excited about. Hot on the heels of the Nantucket Wine Festival discussed last week, we have another amazing event coming up to keep your taste buds jumping for joy as you enjoy your Nantucket vacation rentals. It is, of course, Nantucket Restaurant Week! Some of the best restaurants in town are participating and offering amazing three course meals from $25 – $45. That is a steal and considering the great folks participating, it is a must attend, can not miss event.

At the moment the Nantucket Restaurant Week website is waiting for an update and with the June 6th start date looming I am sure that update is on it’s way. In the mean time, there is their Twitter which is a great source for other Nantucket foodie related information.

In the end Nantucket Restaurant Week is about offering the best in culinary culture Nantucket has to offer at great prices. This allows and encourages you to expand your stable of trusted restaurants while not spending an arm and a leg. Nantucket Wine Festival

I hope that you have picked out your Nantucket house rentals by now. One of the best things bout Nantucket in the spring is happening this week and boy is it exciting. If you love food and beverages as much as we do you are probably jumping out of your skin with excitement at the impending Nantucket Wine Festival. With events like the Grand Tasting (which features more than 165 different wines!), the Harbor Gala(which features a wide range of foods from) and a slue of other more specific wine and food seminars through out the event (which by the way runs from May 18th through May 22nd) you are bound to leave slightly buzzed and incredibly well fed.

Events like this one are just one of the many reasons you decided on a Massachusetts vacation and more specifically a Nantucket vacation. That’s because you knew that this was exactly the kind of place that would attract all of the best wineries and restaurants around.

I for one can not contain my excitement. All of those wines and all of that food, I am salivating just thinking about it. I simply can not wait to try all of these things. The event is going to be one of my year highlights for sure.

Nantucket Scenery

I had never appreciated a sunset or a sunrise. Never that is until I spent a few days in Nantucket. This is because everywhere you turn in the area is more picturesque than the last place. Those beaches with their crystalline waters reflect the gorgeous colors of the sky perfectly –whether it is the morning, dusk or the middle of a bright and sunny day. I have enjoyed watching sun showers sprinkling over the beach. I have enjoyed watching boats traverse each other in the occasionally very crowded water. I have admired more of the scenery of this area than anywhere else in my life.

When I saw there was a Nantucket house for rent recently, I was immediately brought back to that time and those gorgeous  views. The memories seemed so vivid I just had to spring for the rental. I desperately needed a relief from the day to day grind and I was really looking forward to a few weeks of rest and relaxation.

When I arrived at my Nantucket rental, it did not disappoint. Those sunsets were even more beautiful than I remember. In fact, the sunset was so special that I stayed up straight through just to get a taste of sunrise.

Nantucket Whaling Museum

Though the practice has left the United States, Nantucket used to be a huge port for whaling. Whaling of course is the hunting of whales for meat and/or oil. In Nantucket there was a time where whaling was truly a way of life. It was the sort of job a man could become engrossed in. It would be the kind of life occupying passion that could never be stopped once you started. It was an incredibly interesting thing to think about. These men would leave on their boats and fight with these gigantic sea beasts. The whole thing seems downright fantastical.

Since whaling no longer happens on or around Nantucket the Nantucket Historical Association maintains a Whaling Museum that is a real joy to check out. There are lots of cool artifacts from years of whaling. Bones and tools, any fan of sea life (even those unsure about the idea of whaling) would have a blast just looking at this history. No Massachusetts vacation is complete without some exploration of maritime life. If your Nantucket vacation rentals are anywhere near this place it is the perfect way to scratch that itch. The museum is currently open daily from 10am to 5pm. Check it out.
